Day Three - Lord, You know me

Psalm 139: 1,13-16 (NLT) - "You have searched me, LORD, and you know me."

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."

To be known -- that may be one of the greatest desires of human beings. How many teenage movies have we seen where the storyline centers around this need to be known, recognized, understood? And we're not talking about the usual knowing of people in regards to their background or personality or preferences. What we are referring to is that deep down, in our guts sense that without a word, someone knows us.

In these verses of Psalm 139, we are directed to fix our hearts on the One who knows us. Verse 1 says, "You have searched me, Lord, and you know me." Then from verses 2-12 it describes the way in which God knows us. We even have a song that expresses this.

You know when I sit, you know when I rise
You understand my thoughts from afar
You schedule my steps and my times to rest
You're acquainted with all my ways
And it's too wonderful for me, it's all too wonderful for me
It's just too wonderful for me, it's all too wonderful for me

Then verse 13 says, "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb." The psalmist explains that God knows us because it is He who created us from that deep down gutty place. And the psalmist expresses the wonder and praise of God having done this. But created for what? "All the days ordained for me..." In God's picky love, He created us to know Him and be known by Him and the wonder of it continues as we live in the will and plan He has for our lives.

Responding to the Transmitted Message: These are the days that God ordained for us a long, long time ago. Live today knowing we don't have to wonder, 'does anyone know me?' That's been answered for us through God's picky love. Pray that we would know God more and continue to sing to Him through the day, "it's just too wonderful for me, it's all too wonderful for me."
