Day Two - The Pleasure of God

Ephesians 1:3-5 (NLT) - "All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure."

We can feel pleasure over good choices that we make. Take for example this past Saturday's college fellowship. Each of us could only choose one dish for appetizer, entrée, and dessert out of four tantalizing options listed. We anticipated the pleasure our taste buds and stomachs would experience as we made our choices. But it got even better as we actually tasted what was before us. We thought to ourselves, "I made a good choice!"

In this Ephesians passage we are told God had great pleasure in choosing us to be adopted into His own family. God's picky love is shown as His pleasure. It was what God wanted to do. It was not a last minute thought, but God decided before He made the world that He would love us and choose us as His own.

Responding to the Transmitted Message: Rightly this passage begins with 'All praise to God!' And we even have a song about it, written from the college conference. If you remember the words, sing it at this moment to worship God for His picky love towards us. Let's thank God that He takes pleasure in loving us and choosing us.
