Day Four - The Focus on God's Inescapable Love
Ephesians 1:3-6 (MSG) - "How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He's the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth's foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son."
It is pretty exciting to be known by someone important or even famous. Their life, fame, importance, etc. affects us and gives us a sense that our lives are beyond us, a part of something greater. How much more is it to be known by God - the Creator of the universe, the one who knows all things and can do all things?
This passage in Ephesians says that, "Long before he laid down earth's foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love." As the focus of His love, God is doing everything to bring our lives into His blessing. Now that truly is living for something greater than our lives. This is the blessing of His inescapable love - His love makes our lives whole, especially in the areas where we have been hurt or we struggle so much in. His loves keeps us in his perfect ways - we are holy, or set apart with Him.
Responding to the Transmitted Message: What honor to be the focus of God's incredible love. Spend some time thanking God and remembering how he has touched and changed your life. Remember both the big events and the little moments.
