Day Two - God's Inescapable Love
John 3:16-17 - "God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him."
Romans 5:6-8 - "When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners."
Romans 5:1-2 - "By entering through faith into what God has always wanted to do for us - set us right with him, make us fit for him - we have it all together with God because of our Master Jesus. And that's not all: We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that he has already thrown open his door to us. We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand-out in the wide open spaces of God's grace and glory, standing tall and shouting our praise."
God's love continues to go beyond our ideas of love. In love God is continually confronting our ideas and our attitudes about love, even our thoughts or ideas of how He loves us. He loved us by laying His Son's life down for us. He doesn't come with a better idea or a change of attitude, but He comes with His very self, His very Presence. God is not interested in a virtual relationship that is set around our ideas and hopes. God is solely interested in loving relationship - deep, real, tangible, and forever. God's love no longer puts Him at a distant, over there, out there as a supernatural being - one directing and interacting. The love of God puts Him right here in our space, our time, our very desires and dreams. And He won't go away.
His love loves until there is life... and then keeps loving until there is more life... and then keeps loving. He is not an idea machine on how to live or even love, He comes and loves - so close and real, and often too close, so wonderful and yet so offensive, so personal and yet so not what we want right now; so gentle and yet so unstoppable. This is the idea of open doors, God opening His doors of favor and glory, deeply changing and blessing our lives. His closeness keeps us until we open our door to Him... only to find all His doors of blessing are 'already' open to us. This is the inescapable love of God... Loving His life right into us.
Responding to the Transmitted Message: What ideas do you have about God and how He is to be and how He loves you? His love is powerful and life changing. Bring all your cares and concerns to Him again, trusting Him today. Pray that you will walk with Him, bringing everything to him - keeping a continual conversation with Him about your day.
