John 15: 9-11 (NLT) – “I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!"
Today's Devotional:
We know that Jesus lived a life of obedience to the Father, and that He also experienced a deep joy. As we seek to follow Him, He invites us to experience and be filled with this joy as we remain in His love. We respond to His love by obeying His commands. This life of obedience will not only be filled with a joy that the world cannot comprehend, but also a joy that will overflow to others! This is a joy that can surpass all disappointments and sorrows. We can experience and grow in this joy as we seek to obey and follow His commands.
Jesus lived a life of perfect love and obedience to the Father. He set the example for us, and many lives were healed and changed as a result. As we are his followers, we too are called to a life of love and obedience. We cannot claim to love God without obeying His word, and to keep His word means not only obedience to what is written, but a desire to do what we know would please Him. As we seek to live a life of obedience to God's word, let's continue to grow in a deeper passionate relationship with Him.
Responding to the Transmitted Message: Spend time today praying that you would continue to grow in a deeper love of Christ and obedience to His word. Spend time in prayer asking the Lord to help you live in this joy of obedience to His word.
